Nothing Hard, Nothing Sticky,
Nothing Chewy.

Got it?

Just in case you've forgotten since the last time we mentioned it...

Stay away from all foods that are
HARD, STICKY, OR CHEWY.

Why? Because...

  • The wrong foods can loosen bands or bonds, causing permanent scarring of the teeth underneath the loose appliances.
  • Wires can become bent or broken, stopping tooth movement, or moving teeth in the wrong direction.
  • When bands or bonds become loose, it means that the cements and bonding materials are washing out, leaving spaces for bacteria to get in and create scarring, even cavities--damage that no one can see until the day the braces come off (eek!).

If you have a problem, call 643-0778 immediately. Our patients have done the research for us — and for you. You can benefit from their experience, avoiding these foods that may damage your braces (and therefore the teeth under the braces):
